3 Natural Ways To Ease Your Seasonal Allergies

May 25, 2020 / by Violet & Anna / Leave a Comment

Every year, spring and summer bring seasonal allergies for people all over the world. While some only experience mild symptoms and irritation, others have allergies that can severely impact their quality of life during this time of year.

Although you can get prescription medications or treatments for your allergies, many people would much rather go with a more natural option first, especially if you’re trying to avoid any unnecessary risks or side effects from taking medications.

If you have allergies that you’d like to try to manage on your own, here are three natural ways you may be able to ease your seasonal allergies.

Keep Things Clean

While the source of your seasonal allergies comes from the outdoors, it’s easier than you might think for those irritants to get into your home and cause your problems day and night.

To best keep this from happening to you, it’s important that you do your best to keep things inside your home as clean as possible. Ideally, you should try to keep the windows of your home closed so that you’re not letting more allergens come into your home this way. Additionally, WebMD recommends that you clean yourself up as soon as you get home. By taking a shower and changing your clothes when you come in from being outside, you’ll be getting all of those allergens away from you and reducing their concentration in your home.

Give Your Sinuses Some Love

For most people, seasonal allergies have the biggest impact on their sinuses. This can cause sneezing, congestion, pressure, and more discomfort and potential infections.

Luckily, there are ways you can flush allergens out of your sinuses and give yourself clean and clear nasal passageways. One way to do this, according to the staff of the Mayo Clinic, is to complete a nasal rinse. Either with a neti pot or a squeeze bottle, by pushing clean water through your sinuses, you can flush out anything that might be stuck in your sinuses and causing you issues.

Eat Some Local Honey

According to Dr. Debra Rose Wilson, a contributor to Healthline.com, there’s a popular theory among those who support natural remedies for allergies that eating local honey from your area can help you to overcome some of your bigger allergic reactions to the irritants that come from the environment in which you live. Because honey that comes from your area is made from bees collecting pollen from that same area, your body may be able to build up more of a tolerance to those allergens by being exposed to them through that local honey.

If you have seasonal allergies that you’re wanting to try to address in a more natural way, consider using the tips mentioned above to help you come up with some options that may work for you.
